Dr. Laura Katz
Dr. Laura Katz is registered to provide services to adults with the College of Psychologists of Ontario (CPO) with specialization in Clinical, Health and Rehabilitation Psychology.
Training/Work Experience: Dr. Katz completed her Ph.D. from Queen’s University and a 1-year clinical residency in Health/Rehabilitation at the London Health Sciences Centre in Ontario, Canada. In addition to working at MindFit, Dr. Katz is an Assistant Professor at McMaster University, and also works as a psychologist at the Michael G. DeGroote Pain Clinic at McMaster University where she provides patient care, in addition to program development, evaluation, research, teaching and supervision.
Presenting Concerns: Dr. Katz works with adults and specializes in helping individuals with a broad range of challenges including chronic pain and chronic health issues, anxiety disorders/phobias, low mood/depression, trauma, difficulties with sleep, life-related stressors and transitions, relationship/job/academic difficulties, coping with COVID-19/uncertainty and loneliness, and emotion regulation challenges.
Approach: She primarily utilizes a cognitive-behavioural therapy framework and also includes elements of acceptance and commitment therapy, mindfulness, emotion-focused skills, and motivational interviewing for a client-centred approach grounded in evidence-based practice.
Outside of MindFit: Dr. Katz is a proud mother of a toddler and Labradoodle, and enjoys going on family walks, traveling and exercising.
