Dr. Natisha Nabbijohn

Clinical Associate

Dr. Natisha Nabbijohn is a Clinical Associate currently seeking registration with the College of Psychologists of Ontario. She provides services to children, adolescents, and parents/caregivers under the supervision of Dr. Kim Edwards, C.Psych .

Training/Work Experience: In addition to working at MindFit, Dr. Nabbijohn also works at McMaster Children’s Hospital – Gender Diversity and Adolescent Medicine Programs. Dr. Nabbijohn has trained at the Peterborough Regional Health Centre, The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids), University of Guelph, and the Halton Catholic District School Board. Her doctoral research focused on gathering lived experience perspectives to develop and test a model for conceptualizing coping in the context of paediatric chronic pain, referred to as the Integrative Model of the Coping Process. Dr. Nabbijohn has published papers in the areas of pediatric chronic pain and gender diversity, and has presented at local and international conferences.

Presenting Concerns: Dr. Nabbijohn has expertise in supporting a wide range of emotional, behavioural, and health-related concerns. Her areas of specialty include: chronic health conditions (e.g., chronic pain, diabetes), Functional Neurological Symptom Disorder (FNSD), and eating disorders. Dr. Nabbijohn also works with young people experiencing anxiety, OCD, low mood, ADHD, autism, trauma, difficulties with emotion and behaviour regulation, and challenges coping with stress and life changes.

Dr. Nabbijohn especially enjoys working alongside parents and caregivers and within family systems to help young people feel supported and understood. She is passionate about strengthening parent-child relationships and helping families develop practical tools to navigate challenges together. Dr. Nabbijohn has expertise in working supporting youth through periods of identity development and gender exploration, as well as helping young people and families navigate stressors and life transitions.

Approach: Dr. Nabbijohn uses a variety of therapeutic modalities, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT). Whenever possible, Dr. Nabbijohn includes parents/caregivers using modalities such as Emotion-Focused Family Therapy (EFFT), Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT), and/or Family-Based Therapy depending not the age and needs of the youth.

Outside of MindFit: Dr. Nabbijohn enjoys travelling, hiking, fitness classes (spin and yoga are her favourites), watching movies, and spending time with friends and family!
